What is Google
PageSpeed?
Why high 90+ scores matter
PageSpeed is an officially confirmed Google ranking factor with direct impact on your SEO. It is not just about load speed, but about the complete picture of user-friendliness.
We explain what Google PageSpeed is, how to measure this score and why a score of at least 90 or higher makes the difference for your findability, conversion and user experience.

PageSpeed is an
official ranking factor
Google confirmed as early as 2010 that page speed is a factor in desktop search results, and since the Speed Update of July 2018 also for mobile. In 2020, the Page Experience update followed, in which Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP, CLS) explicitly named load speed and user experience as ranking factors.

The impact of speed on user-friendliness
The word PageSpeed suggests it is purely about load speed. That is true, but it is broader. It is about the complete user experience picture, of which speed is one part. In other words: a user-friendly website is always fast, but a fast website is not automatically user-friendly.
What makes a website user-friendly?
Technically measurable and visible, user-friendliness includes good contrast ratio between text and background and the size and readability of your text. This is also WCAG-related. The functionality and clickability of navigation and buttons, especially on mobile, deserve extra attention.
Ultimately, it is about building your website for your visitor and not for Google. Can your visitor find relevant information easily? For example, how many clicks does it take to get in touch?
Core Web Vitals
PageSpeed rests on three measurable pillars, collectively known as the Core Web Vitals.
1. LCP - Largest Contentful Paint
Measures how fast the page loads. Concretely: how long does it take before the largest visible element (often a hero image or heading) appears on screen. This is the first signal to a visitor that the page is actually loading.
2. INP - Interaction to Next Paint
Measures response speed: how quickly the page responds after a visitor clicks, taps or types. A slow response feels immediately unpleasant to visitors, even if the page itself has already loaded.
3. CLS - Cumulative Layout Shift
Measures visual stability during loading. Does the content on your page unexpectedly jump back and forth while elements are loading? Then you score poorly here and a visitor will quickly click the wrong element by accident.
What is a good Google PageSpeed score?
PageSpeed scores range from 0 to 100. The higher the score, the better your website performs:
- 90 to 100 - good:
From a score of 90 everything turns green. If you score above 90 on all four areas, both mobile and desktop, your website's technical foundation is solid. - Below 90 - room for improvement:
Google provides concrete technical improvement suggestions alongside the score. Some are simple to implement, others require more specialist knowledge. - Four scores, two platforms:
PageSpeed Insights measures load time, code quality, server response and user experience separately for mobile and desktop.
DYKZ builds websites that meet all these technical requirements and raises the bar even higher, where maximum 100/100 Google PageSpeed scores are neither exceptional nor coincidental.
